A Bit about Name Tapes

The best known use for name tapes is, of course, on school uniforms, but there are many more. Uniforms for Brownies, Cubs, Scouts & Guides, dancewear, sports kit or other club uniforms.

Adults need them too, for sports wear, work wear and uniforms. It is also often a requirement for elderly people entering nursing or retirement homes to have all their clothes named.

It was in the 1870s that the first Cash's woven nametape were produced. Since then successive generations have come to rely on this method of identification. In January 1964, Cash's was appointed 'Manufacturers of Woven Name Tapes to Her Majesty the Queen.'

Sewn in nametapes will not peel or fade and can be reused.
